ExCeL London Visitor Guide 2026: Stations, Parking, Drop-Off and Airport Transfers
ExCeL London is the capital's largest exhibition and conference centre. It sits on the north side of Royal Victoria Dock in the Royal Docks, East London (postcode E16 1FR), and on a busy day it can host a technology expo, a consumer show, a professional conference and a sporting event all at the same time. That scale is exactly why planning your journey matters. This guide puts everything in one place: stations, parking, drop-off points, the cable car, and what a pre-booked car costs from each airport.
ExCeL London at a glance
- Location: Royal Victoria Dock, Docklands, East London, E16 1FR
- Known for: the UK's largest trade shows, international conferences, consumer exhibitions, comic conventions and sporting events
- Nearest airport: London City, roughly 2 miles away
- Nearest stations: Custom House (Elizabeth line and DLR) and Prince Regent (DLR)
- Nearby: Canary Wharf, the O2 across the river, and on-site hotels, restaurants and bars
Which station should you use?
ExCeL is long, and the station you choose decides which end of the building you arrive at. Picking the right one can save a surprisingly long indoor walk.
| Station | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Custom House (Elizabeth line and DLR) | West entrance | About 43 minutes from Heathrow and about 15 minutes from central London on the Elizabeth line |
| Prince Regent (DLR) | East entrance and the ICC | Useful for conference sessions held in the ICC |
| Canning Town | Backup option | About a 20-minute walk |
One thing to remember: when a major show is on, trains and platforms get very busy at opening and closing times. If you're carrying a laptop bag, a suitcase or boxes of stand materials, the station changes and crowds are the hardest part of the day.
Driving and parking at ExCeL in 2026
Parking is charged at a flat daily rate: £27.50 per day if you pre-book, or £30 on the day, including Blue Badge bays. The height limit is 1.9m, and taller vehicles use a separate car park. Because it's a flat rate, a short visit costs the same as a full day, so many visitors find it poor value if they're only popping in for a meeting or a couple of hours at a show.
Where taxis drop off and pick up
The official drop-off and pick-up point is on Western Gateway, at the west end of the venue, and the taxi rank is at the west entrance. After big shows, the rank queue builds quickly because thousands of people leave at the same moment. Arranging a pre-booked car to meet you at Western Gateway at an agreed time means you walk out and go, rather than joining the line.
Arriving by cable car
The IFS Cloud Cable Car links Greenwich Peninsula, near the O2, with the Royal Docks. TfL lists the adult single fare at £6. It's a memorable way to arrive if you're staying south of the river, but opening hours can change, so check TfL before relying on it.
Fixed transfer fares to ExCeL London (one way)
If you'd rather go door to door, these are RushXO's fixed one-way fares. They include the London zone charge and don't change with traffic or demand.
| From | Saloon | Executive | MPV | V Class |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| London City Airport | £81 | £92 | £92 | £104 |
| Central London | £81 | £92 | £92 | £104 |
| Heathrow Airport | £108 | £123 | £126 | £135 |
| Stansted Airport | £128 | £149 | £152 | £165 |
| Gatwick Airport | £133 | £155 | £159 | £173 |
Booking a return together saves around 10%. For example, Heathrow return in a saloon is £194 and Gatwick return is £240. A saloon seats 4, an MPV seats 6, and the V Class suits groups and teams carrying exhibition kit.
Tips for exhibitors
If you're bringing a stand, samples, banners or AV equipment, an MPV or V Class handles the load far better than the DLR. Door-to-door delivery to the venue means no hauling boxes through ticket barriers and up escalators on build-up day, and no juggling cases on a crowded platform after breakdown.
Making a trip of it
The Royal Docks have become a destination in their own right. There are hotels on site, restaurants and bars along the dock, Canary Wharf a few minutes away and the O2 across the river. If you're staying a few days for a big event, it's easy to combine the show with dinner at Canary Wharf or a gig at the O2.
